Steps will not extend

I am out camping in my 2001 Itasca Sunrise 30'. I just selected a fairly level campsite, opened the door and no steps. I got my fuse chart out that I printed from the internet and the step fuse is not listed. Has anyone been through this? I am handicapped and the long step to the ground is really hard. I got gas about an hour before and the steps worked fine. ???

Try and give them a little kick most of the time they just need a few sprays of lube to get them to work. Or lay under the M/H and give the step motor a few light raps, BUT BE SURE HAND AND FINGERS ARE OUT OF THE WAY.

Winnebago's use a breaker, a push in breaker. If it is not in the living area with the others it may be behind the hood. Also, if you crawl under and tap the motor with a sharp blow it may extend, just don't get knocked in the head.

Steps Not Extending

You might also have a stuck or bad actuator. The little thing on the door is a magnet that opens and closes the switch it nearly contacts when the door is closed. When my steps failed I replaced that little switch on the inside and the steps have been working fine since.
Just a thought....
(Sometimes tapping on the actuator will free it up too.)

I had a similar problem with mine a couple of years ago. Moisture had got into the plug/connector and caused just enough corrosion to break the electrical connection. Spraying with contact cleaner followed by silicon wire dryer solved the problem.

I want to thank everyone for replying to my post. I found the fuses uder the flip up instrument panel. They are labeled and there are three of them and all are good. I kicked the steps, got underneath and banged on the actuator and motor. The steps still will not extend. I guess I will just be happy they are retracted and make the best of it. Thanks again.

I also checked the wiring connections. Both were clean and dry with no corrosion. I also checked the ground connection and it was good. I will do without steps for the rest of the trip I did not bring my multi meter so any more trouble shooting will have to wait until I get home. Thanks again for all your help and support one.

99% of the problems with these steps is due to lack of lubrication. Get a good spray lube such as Boshield T9 and spray Every Pivot Point. Then tap the steps with a rubber mallet. Be careful not to get caught up in the mechanism while taping.
Once you have them operating, give them a squirt every 6-8 weeks and you won't have any more trouble with your steps. Use Boshield T9 on all your locks, door hinges etc, etc for a smooth running RV.
