I see the bank safety box idea mentioned several times. It sounds like a good idea for handguns.
But I would wonder if the bank requires you to have an account such as checking or savings to rent a lock box. I know some banks do.
You would probably have to pay rent for the box for a year?
A decent pawn shop sounds good too. Just tell the owner what's going on and see what they would charge to hold the guns until you get back. If they are close to the border, they may have dealt with this in the past.
Gunsmith sounds good if you can find one. Again, tell him what's up and let them check out your firearms and hold them until you return.
