Look up Caseys off road recovery on YouTube. The entire video is there.

Sand hollow is a fresh water lake not salt and the bus owner was an organizer of the event taking place that week. The event contracts with a towing company ( Caseys off-road recovery in this case) to pull campers on and off the beach area for the event so this is a common occurrence.

Other than being fresh water I'm not sure that makes it better. Let's say instead they regularly ran off the road and needed to be towed out. I can't imagine either is good on suspension parts.

But it does reinforce my practice of buying new because you never know what kind of things a prior owner would have done.

That 5 ton is really sweet but the most impressive thing to me was that the strap didn't break.

That is what he said/stated, I also assumed he meant what he said.

I kept wondering why they didnít use the hydraulic lifts to pick it up to put something under the tires...or refill the rut with sand...

Should have worked...

I used to work at a shop 20 minutes from Assateague. The salt in the sand just ate the local trucks within just a few years. Chevy brake lines especially but everything else on all brands up to and including frames. I stayed off the beach unless on foot.
Stationed at Atlantic beach NC, had a new 56 Ford convertible, would run down the beach quite often. Local Ford dealer would pressure wash underbody and coat with used motor oil for a buck.. Probably go to environmental jail for that now. It worked though, no rust.

While watching the video I thought to myself "surely he's not going to jerk that strap" and that's exactly what he did. But it worked, at least for a while. I echo the sentiment earlier that that is one impressive tow strap.

I have to wonder what exactly up under the coach they hooked to.

I'm thinking that Marathon will have air-levelling.

No hydraulic lifts.

You certently wouldn't say that to the guy who drive that RV on a beach. He may just let it all out.

Or the jacks would sink in the sand and get stuck down.

Marathon Coach showcased the owner picking up this coach. There's a video on YouTube if interested. Nice couple.

To the person who asked about lifts. There are no lifts on Prevost coaches.

They use kinetic energy ropes that are designed to stretch and yank the stuck vehicle out, i have one rated at 60,000lb, they used 2 of them to pull that coach out
