sub-flooring

I have a 2011 Coachmen Mirada class A . A few years ago I felt what I was afraid was a soft spot in the flooring. We were storing the unit in Arizona (live in Iowa) so I stuck my head in the sand and ignored it. It is home now and we are going to try and sell it. I decided to try and address the problem. Not a wet or rotten spot, thank God. The sub-flooring is a thin layer of plywood over foam, then steel. The plywood layer has popped up in about a 2ft sq. area. If you step on it, it goes down and comes back up when you step off, about 1/2" or so. Talking to my neighbor, he has a Montana 5th wheel with the same problem, he said it was a spot over a heat duct and he hasn't done anything about it. I called Coachmen/Forest River and talked to them. They said it is also over a heat duct. Suggested I pull the vinyl back and cut the plywood to relieve the stress on the plywood and then put the vinyl back down.

Has anyone ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it? I'm not afraid to pull up vinyl and cut sub-floor just asking if this is the best fix.

If they (and you) are right about nature and location of the problem, I'd do it. But something caused that subfloor to "pop up". How do you know there is no water damage (or whatever) until you take up the vinyl? Could be a surprise underneath.

I cut and pulled up the vinyl edge along the slide. I can feel and somewhat see its dry and not deteriorated. The factory rep ask me if it was behind the driver.
It is about along the left frame rail about 10' behind the driver. He didn't hesitate and was sure that was the problem. Kind of like it was a common problem.

It is probably at a seam with no, or inadequate support beneath it.

I have up-loaded a short video of what I plan to do ( may be to big a file). If anyone thinks its a really bad idea let me know. On the video I say I will pull the nail on the right, obviously I mean the the left, I was holding the phone upside-down.
