Suggestion for Fixes

We are bringing our trailer back to the dealership for some defects. We have a list of things we need fixed. Question is anything I should be “looking for”. We were told to basically come with the biggest list possible.

We've purchased 3 new rigs and have had over 25 we purchased used. I'd look close at the outside sealants-around the windows and all and also take a close look at the roof. I'd keep the rest of the list to big stuff that I couldn't fix myself. I'd do all the little stuff, trim, loose hinges and such myself because I do a better job than the average RV tech who doesn't really give a darn. Don't expect your RV to reach the same standard you would expect in a new S&B house. Just doesn't work that way. BTW, of the three new ones, none were ever returned to the dealer for defects. All the little things were easier for me to fix than go thru the hassle of taking it back to the dealer.

Not sure where you are in your "camping season", meaning not sure if you're done camping for the year or not....

The reason I ask, depending on what you need to have done, be prepared to wait a pretty long time for parts availability. COVID has put a huge wrinkle in the supply chain as far as RV parts go.

As long as you don't have any show stoppers, maybe get your dealer to diagnose your issues, make a shopping list, and let you take the coach back to use while they wait on parts to arrive.

We bought our MH back in June and the dealer and I have a parts shopping list going now. Some of the items have arrived, but the main items, like a headlight is still not in yet. I told the dealer that I wanted to wait until all the parts came in, then I would bring it back to finish it up.

Check ceiling & roof and around windows for any sign of water leaks. Verify that all appliances & systems work (and in all power modes, where applicable).

If you bought your trailer in the summer, and didn't check to see if furnace works and puts out heat at all registers, now's the time to check....

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

I would thoroughly check the operation of all systems, including LP, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors. If you miss something it may be hard to get it back in anytime soon.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
