Suggestions Needed

Hello Everyone,

My name is Tony. I'm in need of some help. I've never done a custom (one of a kind) RV build before and I have no clue where to promote it to find that one person, buyer. So I'm looking for advice, suggestions of where I can and should promote the sale of a Custom Build to Order Vintage RV.

I will post it in the for sale section here. However, I'm not 100% sure that it will reach the target market and the one person that I need to reach.

At my age, I just want to see this project completed. To know that I did it, to hear it run and see it done. Who knows, it might be my last big project. Two years ago I started working on it as a hobby, with the thought of selling it once I had replaced all the mechanical items, with new ones, had it road worthy and it passed a safety test. However, with it dragging on, my hope now is to find that one person with vision and the means to see it through. And we work together, building what they want.

How do I reach that "one" special person? Where would you suggest that I list it?

I can built it for use as a one of a kind:

Advertising / Promotional vehicle
A Give Away vehicle
A Food Truck
or a Personal RV

To help save megabytes / usage on this site and so I do not have to post it all over again; below is my link to my personal thread on our club site. So far it is 8 pages long with post about this build and my vision. I hope you enjoy the build. I will continue to post progress as it moves forward.
231 Ultravan Build Project

Thank you for your help and support.
Sincerely, Tony

Even though I have not done an RV before; I've done some restorations and custom builds over the years.
It helps to be a retired ASE and US Army mechanic.

PICTURES: (only two of the projects I have done over the years)
1. Was a custom 66 Shovel Harley Trike with different colors and types of powder-coating.
2 & 3 . Before and after of a Corvair project. A strip down for repaint with color change, reseal engine, rebuild carbs, give it a full tune up, replace all wheel cylinders and brakes and reinstall the power-plant, chrome and interior. The after (new white paint) pictures - I was still waiting on the headlight gaskets to arrive before I could reinstall the headlights.

At this time I'm not able to find pictures of the 66 Mercury Park-lane that I replaced the entire frame under, installed new brakes, rebuilt the carb, gave it a complete tune-up and installed an aftermarket curse control.. However, it might already be posted somewhere on this forum. But I have not figured out how to few earlier pictures that i have posted. Old age you know.. Grin

The problem that you'll have is that the projects you select are obviously cheap to buy. Even rebuilt like new, they're not desirable enough to make a profit. Your projects are typically something someone with an emotional attachment, ie; owned one in high school, would build, but not something that the general public would want.

The Ultravan is neat, but you'll never recoup the money you put into it. Ask anyone who builds their own hot rod, 90% of them will tell you that they have more money into it than they could sell it for.

Don,

Thank you for your advice. You may have missed the point.

I fully understand this kind of thing will take a very special person. I simply want to be able to build it and see it done - while I am able. I retired in 2000. I've also built a number of projects over the years. So I'm aware of how much it takes and that it is hard to make a profit. However, that is not the goal. I'm not looking to make much of a profit, if at all. The goal here is to see my vision finished and know it is out there - on the road where it belongs.

My hope is that some business owner would like to use it for advertising or a give away promotion or even as a fancy food truck. Maybe yet, someone would want a unique custom RV as their personal RV.

Either way, what I'm asking is: (I'm not aware of all RV sites or places)
Where would one suggest that I list a project like this to reach that kind of buyer?
How do I reach that "one" special person?
