Surge guards: Hughes Watchdog vs. Progressive Industries Smart Surge

I have a Hughes Watchdog PWD50EPO which occasionally gives me a fault error code 6 "line 2 neutral reversed", at different RV parks, so it shuts down power. I then replace it with my Progressive Industries Smart Surge Protector which powers up with no errors, but I can't tell which one is right. Has anyone else had something like this happen, where different surge suppressors give different signals?

Why not contact Hughes to see if they could test it for you?

That would be like your car making strange noises, then when you take it to a mechanic, it purrs quietly. But then you have to ship your car to Detroit to have that done.

Personally, I would trust the PI unit. They have been building these units a lot longer than Hughes. Now, Hughes makes a great AutoFomer.

I had my Hughes watchdog give me a neutral error at West Yellowstone KOA in July and it was correct. The wiring to the box was not correct

Likewise, I was at a park recently and my Watchdog gave me the error. Frustrated and thinking it was over-sensitive I plugged in direct to the pedestal and my transfer switch blocked the connection with the same error. Thankful someone was looking out for me, I am now a believer and won't be so quick to attempt to fry my RV. I ended up using a dog bone to hook up to 30A, with the Watchdog in place.

I can't imagine a KOA wiring their power boxes wrong
