Yes you can. You will have to wire the surge protector on the coach side of the transfer switch. Both the incoming land line power and the power from the generator will come through the transfer switch.

Surge protection isn't limited to "MoHos". We've had a hard wired one on our fifth wheel since we bought it.

When you do this though you transfer switch will NOT be protected.

Most of today's generators are built with solid electrical output. At least the one in my coach is, an Onan 7500QD, however, there may be other manufacture's that cannot guarantee the same. I installed my Progressive EMS before the transfer switch and I don't worry about the generator cooking my devices.

A surge protector will NOT protect your devices from a direct lightning strike. I believe all surge protector manufacturer's have posted a disclaimer with their product that their unit will offer complete protection EXCEPT from a direct lightning strike or a near hit.

I have never had surge protection but would like to get one. This eliminates me from the poll I guess.

I was searching the web and found this site about surge protection. It just gives another perspective if your on the fence about getting one.
