This probably varies from state to state, but I'm pretty sure that in MS you have to pay sales tax on a used RV.

Though it may be called something else, the answer is "yes" unless the state does not have a sales tax at all. In addition, there may be other taxes or fees on a used vehicle, as mentioned by others.

In short, a sale is a sale, and if the state and or local community charge sales taxes, you will be paying it on a used RV.

How about that?

Take "Tag Axle question", remove some letters and you get Taxes.

From Google: These five states do not charge sales tax on cars that are registered there: New Hampshire, Delaware, Montana, Oregon, and Alaska. Washington, DC

Yes. If you have a trade, most states tax on the difference in value.

When I purchased my Four Winds in another state, the dealer asked where I was going to register it. If I "didn't know yet" they would add their state sales tax, and when I registered the unit, that state would charge/eventually refund any difference between their respective applicable tax rates.

There was an option to sign an affidavit of exemption, but I'd have to pay the sales taxes of the state of registration anyway (unless it didn't have any).

Note that most of the states with no sales tax tend to make up that revenue in other ways, that may further impact cost of ownership.

In Nevada from a dlr yes, if from a private party no. If trading in at a dlr you get a credit for the trade.

Do you have to pay sales tax on private party when you register?

Many states get sales tax for used by private sell at time of registration

Dealer.....they charge the sales tax cause they are a business

Sales taxes on vehicles is the tax that keeps giving and giving and giving. Let’s say you are in a sales tax state, which is the vast majority of the 50 states. A buyer buys a new RV for $400,000 and pays 8% sales tax of $32,000. Three years later the rig is sold for $350,000. There’s another $28,000 into the state coffers and on and on and on.

As the ‘60’s DJ’s used to say, “And the hits keep on coming!”
