Techno lot lizards?

Stopped at truck stop near Fort Chiswell VA on I-81 and fueled up motorhome. My cellphone rings and a female asked if I was lonely? There was no caller id, so I was curious if she knew where I was and she replied and told me I was at the truck stop. I replied NO, and said that my wife would probably greet her at the door with a fry pan. She said "Have a nice day" and hung up. Has technology got this advanced that someone can pick your cell phone number up at a truck stop?

Last trip, stopped at a Flying J in Alabama. Parked in the RV spaces up front to walk the dogs. (about 10am) There were several trucks parked there also and a "lady' was trolling the trucks. Not very subtle. Her escort parked alongside the RV as I was leaving. No phone calls but still a little intimidating.

DW has informed me that if I intend to fuel up at a certain brand truck stop, I was to stop at a rest area prior. She refuses to walk the dog at truck stops. We have all heard the stories if not experienced it first hand.

Yes, the technology exists. Legal or not is another debate.

Had one of those credit card calls yesterday on my cell phone. You know the ones where they say there's is no problem with your card but they want to help with your interest, blah, blah, blah. I always hang up and did, but I noticed the number was within our local area code and prefix so I called it back. A different lady answered and I told her that her's was the number that had called me. The only reason she answered my call was she saw it was a local number like hers. She obviously had nothing to do with the credit card call. How can another number other than the calling number show up on the phone?

It is called 'spoofing' and is fairly easy to do. I think the phone companies and carriers should validate the caller-id but they don't. And yes they will use a 'familiar' number specifically to get you to answer.

Yes it has gotten to that point but I would report that conservation and call to the FCC and local authorities cause just because you can do something does not make it legal.
