I love posts like this and hearing all sides is very informative. Personally I just like to know my rig is ready before I go on a trip and that everything is working. I don't see the harm in running everything once in awhile so I don't have to worry about it when I am far from home and my tool box. Recently before leaving for a week trip, I was checking everything as always....but when I went to start the generator, which is as reliable as old faithful starting, I found the battery that starts it was dead. Easy fix in the driveway...not so easy in a remote area. Food for thought.
