People have a tendency to think limits are limits. If there is a 5,000 pound hitch I can tow a 5,000 pound vehicle. If there is a 20 pound propane tank I can have 20 pounds of propane added.

And why not? When I buy a 1-gallon jug I don't expect it will only hold 0.8 gallons. When the speed limit is 55 I drive right at the limit.

RV'ing. You gotta love it. :

F-150

Claiming their F-150 will SAFELY tow an obviously too large RV.

I would attribute that to the max tow rating BS. What's an F-150 go up to--14,000 pounds or so? Yeah they have engines that will do it, but their brakes and suspensions aren't 2x what a midsize truck is, and they top out at just under 8,000 and typically can't tow that safely.

True, and a lot more folks full timing doing Youtube videos about their journeys.

the people you are asking questions of are there to take your money! they could care less if you are safe or not. they just want to sell you the biggest trailer they can so they can make the most money. then on to the next victim.

not always an F-350, however for me personally I would not pull an RV with a 1/2 ton unless it was under 20 feet, and weighed less than my truck.

Really, we pick on people who don't have the same education that we do? Is that what we've come to now?

Education? Probably more like concentrating on the points of conversation and the spelling snafus slip by unnoticed. What's why I always poof read.

Anyway, their meaning usually comes through, so I say "just let it slid".

You should see the looks I get pulling a 25 foot camper with my Jeep Gladiator! Most Jeeps can only tow about 2,000 lbs. and most Gladiators can only tow about 4,000 lbs. But mine has the Max Tow option to take it up to 7650 lbs. My trailer has a dry weight of 4600 lbs. so I am definitely safe. I wouldn't go any higher on the weight, but she pulls great even in the mountains. People always ASSUME lots of things based on sight, but trucks and campers all have different options/packages which effect tow capacity and weight. Oh, I get the same looks when people see a woman getting out of the driver's seat.
