Texas trailer inspection

How do you get your trailer inspected if you setup permanently in an RV park? Do you tow to an inspection site or just don't get an inspection and a new sticker for your license tag?

You don't need a tag or inspection sticker unless it is on a roadway.

I guess a better question, why would you get a RV that is permanently parked inspected and renew the tags? Those 2 things are only necessary if you plan to be on public roads with it.

You can state that it is not in use on a roadway. I believe the state will give you 3 days to get an inspection after going on the road.
If not going to move it, no need for stickers unless RV park says it has to be current.
If you call the DMV question number, bet they can answer this for you.

Thank everyone

We will be parked near the coast so, in all probability, we will someday have to run from a hurricane. Some RV parks require your tags to be up to date.

Native Texan here, in all the years of camping I can only think of a couple of times I've been asked for my license plate # in a park (excluding state parks). Never been asked about inspection or expiration.

I would hope someone would have a little grace on you if you explained it's a park model and we're running from a hurricane.

I don't think trailers need to be inspected in Texas. You can register online. Call or visit the DMV.

From txdmv.gov:

> Trailers with a gross weight exceeding 7,500 lbs. must pass an annual safety inspection.
