1. I have seen errors detected twice in 9 months
2. Yes, go to ranger station and have them fix or get another site. If they don't and it is full, go to boondock mode.

I would NEVER EVER EVER knowingly connect my shore power cord to any pedestal that has a known error.

Thank you surge guard

Has anyone used the new Hughes surge protector and Bluetooth ems models ? On sale they are considerably cheaper. Big lit up white dog on the front or red if issues, nice that they provide Bluetooth to your phone with an app. They have both the basic surge protector and the higher end ems models
On the confusion of this thread even the cheap 100$ surge protector from progressive etc STOP not just indicate if hit with a surge. They cut off power. Many also indicate ( not stop) wiring issues with led lights. Since it’s It’s rare that wiring would go bad after you tested the pedestal ... they work fine .... just plug in , check for faults , then plug in the coach. The more expensive 300$$ up models generally STOP service additionally for wiring issues and high / low volts( the real likely Benifit they provide) as you’ll find more low voltage issues than anything else
In 4 years I’ve been lucky in over 140 camps I’ve only had low voltage issues in I think 4 parks and no other wiring or surge issues in that time.

Count me as one who replaced a PI EMS HW50c this month. We got slammed by lightning (we think) at a park in Daytona. It was very strange as I was away from the coach at the time. Threw the breaker on pedestal off and on and got power back for a couple days. Then unhooked to head to another park and when I went to plug in the PI was blown. Very weird. I just ordered a new one and replaced it.

Being the second owner of the coach the lifetime warranty now applies to the replacement unit I bought but not the original that blew up. It definitely saved our butts though and would not ever be without one.
