Thanks to Dumas, Texas

We recently took our 40' Winnebago from Houston to Colorado Springs. I was researching the web to find a campground along the way. I am not sure how I got to it from the search engine, but the city of Dumas, Texas ( a little over half way ) offers RVer's a FREE one-night's stay.

The campground ("Texhoma Park") is right off highway 87 West as you exit 287 North in Dumas.
The RV park is not my dream campsite, but the overnight price is right.
There is a playground for the kids and dogs; water is available on the West side of the parking area, a dump station on the South, and electric outlets in the center of the parking area.

My thanks to a city who actually shows their concern for the traveling tourist.

We have family that reside outside Dumas. We haven't used the free campground as yet but we drove through it the last time we were visiting. Like you said, it isn't the best , but for an overnight stay you can't beat the price.

Been there once. Didn't even notice the RR tracks until the first train rolled by at suppertime. Only two more that night though, so not bad. As I remember, there was a box for a $5 contribution.
