The Hartford ins

Anyone know what The Hartfords included roadside assistance covers? My Coach Net is coming due and I'm thinking about just using the Hartford since it's included with my MH ins. I called The Hartford customer service and all they could tell me was towing was covered if "disabled" but not what disabled meant.

I would get the policy out and read the fine print on the towing. Those customer service reps can't be depended on!

Nothing in the policy papers other than it's a new item.

I don't know who The Hartford has for a call center, but I had Progressive and when I called for something as simple as a flat to be changed (new tire needed on site) the person on the other end of the phone literally did not know what a motorhome was. I had to explain it was a big bus kind of thing...think greyhound...and I needed a semi-type of tire service to bring out a new one and replace it on the road. Even after that, she kept trying to send me to RV sales dealerships until after about 20 minutes I just gave up and found a service on my own. Worthless.

So my point is just that hopefully, if the coverage is right, the people in the call center they use actually know what's needed on a big heavy 45' bus like you have.

I guess I should take picture of the policy inclusion as it very definately says it's a new coverage added to the motorhome policies.

I just got a quote yesterday for my 4 vehicles from Hartford. As a whole package the jeep which is my tow and the f350 were liability only. The Highlander and Dutch Star full coverage. Towing reimbursement included @ $75.00 per disablement, Highlander only. So there is your disablement phrase.
It's about 700 less for the 4 vehicles than what I'm paying but lacks in policy. I have roadside assistance anyways.

Must be a different policy as it specifically says motorhome and there is NO dollar limit stated.
Maybe it's something added for going through AARP.

The Hartford ins

When I had Hartford 5 years ago thru aarp they sent out the “New” for your rv coverage notice a couple years before I dropped them so it sure ain’t “new” I called and got a clueless csr so I kept my ( at the time ) good Sam roadside policy. If you have the policy card they sent with the number to call for towing ( I no longer do ) call and ask who they are really .. all roadside services are contracted to just a few companies.

For $74 and a $50 membership fee you can have FMCA Roadside Assistance thru Safe Ride or for $99 and a $40 membership you can purchase the same Safe Ride coverage thru Escapees. I recommend that you have RA thru one of the above and not depend on you vehicle insurance.

I called them a couple months ago about roadside for our fifth wheel. Sorry, no trailers are covered for that. They do insure it though.

They told me only motorhomes can get roadside. $75 per occurrence. Not sure about total miles and type of roadside service. If $75 is the limit for towing, I could see you writing a large check depending on how far the nearest repair facility is.

We are through AARP for Hartford.

Mine says towing to the nearest qualified service location is fully covered. Still trying to find out their definition of "disabled"
