I go out to get away from things not to spend time listening to someone's little precious barking at everything that moves in the camp.

Umm, "Illegitimi non carborundum" is not really Latin. It's a modern pretense of Latin.
Where did you learn "some Latin?"

I LOVE talking politics! Just not here and not with anyone that is uncomfortable with that. Same goes with religion. I'm well educated in both but, since I do not have very many of the answers to very many problems - I try to not engage anyone that does not want a non-emotional discussion. IE - I try to apply manners.

I agree fully. Those are great topics when both people are enjoying the conversation. My comment was made about the times when people aren't all interested, or just want to keep it light.
Too often people who feel strongly about politics or religion don't back down when asked. It can certainly blow a great time when one or two people dominate the discussion trying to prove some point.

I LOVE talking politics and religion with my brother in law. He knows everything about anything and he gets sooooo red in the face when I take the opposite side of what ever he is spouting off about today! It's so much fun

Yep. I was telling someone just the other day, I don't feel strongly enough about anything to lose a friend or not make a new one. That was not always the case but today my response to discussions counter to my beliefs is - put another log on the fire and pass the steak sauce. I have no more inclination to change another's beliefs or mine. Life is too short. Whether that is manners or just common sense I don't know. Some will claim it's being PC and PC is bad. But if we all exhibited or were taught good manners I think much PC would not have ever come up. Could be wrong and don't feel that strongly about it... lol.
Peace on earth goodwill to all.

Pc is a pc term for being too darn scared to tell the truth...
Tell the truth and nothing but the truth and expect it when asking questions...
Does this make my butt look fat?
You know it does and if someone says so then it is not their fault for answering the question with truth.
Saying partial facts that miss lead the story just to not offend somebody is a discrace to most.
Politics and other such things...just the facts and let opinions be and agree that the other one is...oh never mind...

My mother always told the truth... ruined every holiday meal - birthday and family gathering she could. Loved to push buttons. This from the fine lady who taught me if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. Some would say we were a disfunctional family. I say she was just too sure she was right and everyone could go to hades. A little PC and or common courtesy would have been nice. So go on - tell the truth as you know it. It's the best policy.
Again - Peace on earth goodwill to all. And Merry Christmas!

sounds like a fine, honest lady to me. wish there were more that would tell the un- candy coated truth. partial truth is a whole lie. people already know the truth before they ask the question, they just want someone to coddle them. like earlier used, does this dress make my ass look fat, of course it does. you have a fat ass. you cant win with that question or any other like it, and your not suppose to.
