She was mom. Enough said on that. But guarantee she could have and would have ruined your birthday. She burnt nearly every bridge she ever crossed. Held on living just so she could die on my father's birthday. And that's a fact.

There is a huge difference between speaking the truth, and speaking the truth in love.
I am a truth speaker... and it can be uncomfortable for the hearer, but I have learned to speak it with loving intent, and it is accepted graciously from folks. Speaking truth just to push buttons is nothing but stirring up drama and doing so to make oneself feel better than others. Half the time, I don't enjoy having to speak truth, because I know it is painful to hear... been on that end far too many times in my life, but I wish people would do that rather than Karma coming around to kick my ass when I'm being an ass....

Let me add to my statement...

Intent was to not alter story to avoid conflict but to be truthful to insure correctness and keep clear the facts.

Not to just cause harm...the old story of keep quiet if nothing good to say...

What disturbs me current is the hand up dont shoot line.

Never happened but nobody has guts to comment on it while reporting the story.

My wife and I have traveled most of the Eastern USA and in 2009 went to Alaska. Most of the time we just take a deep breath and keep out opinions to ourselves.

There have been a couple of things that irked me on our trip to Alaska.

We were in Yellowstone, had made reservations and had a site reserved. When we went to check in the people at the counter next to us were essentially harassing the ranger about their site. Out of desperation she asked if we minded if they could swap because they had 4 slides and we had 2 and they needed more room. Being somewhat considerate of what was happening we agreed but found that our "new" site was right on the road and all traffic drove along our RV right past our front door. We had to put warning cones out and make sure nothing was coming when we opened the door. I was peeved at both the other campers for putting one over on us and the ranger for not really explaining what the problem was. Live and learn, never give up a good site.

Then we were in Valdez Alaska, the campground really packed the campers in with minimal room. No big deal until our neighbors with young children allowed them to stand on the picnic table an do "karate" kicks against the side of our motor home causing the whole thing to rock and roll. When my wife quickly opened the sliding window on that side and vocally told them to stop the parents were taken back that we were so rude.

People have never complained about our dogs. We keep them in X-pens, always clean up after them and keep them quite. Some parents should consider doing the same thing.

RodgerS,

So sorry about your dog. I have had to put my last three animals down which is why I don't have one right now. It hurts too much. I agree with you about having the same rights for myself. Everyone's enough is individual to them. I wish you peace and fond memories. Lynne
