No, and as a park Ranger for 31 years I never had a theft complaint.

We're moored year-round at a well known RV park and the trailer is left (closed up) while we are gone during the summer.

Both 30# Full Propane tanks were swapped out for much older 30# tanks that were empty.

Battery was stolen, but at least they didn't cut the cables.

Could be worse. I just take all that stuff in and lock it up when we leave now.

I always use a large lock on my Progressive electric protector. I spent a lot of money on that.

No thefts despite outside lockers having common keys

Just got the newsletter email and already this poll is closed!

What I wanted to say is, no, I haven't had anything stolen from our RV. But when an RV salesman was checking out ours for possible consignment, he pulled out a key and opened all of our outside storage locker doors with it. I was going to let him use our key, but he told me it wasn't necessary. Almost all RVs have the same lock and key. He rarely has to try one of the other two keys on his key ring! Moreover, it turns out that our locking mailbox key is the same. So there's almost no reason to lock your storage compartments, except to keep children out of them.

Locks don't prevent theft, they deter it.

If too much work, the thief moves on.

Smile Thefts

We were staying overnight at a rv park in Bakersfield and someone cut the cable that was locking our bikes and took them. Told the manager of the park and he did nothing. On the way back from our trip we stayed at same park. I stayed up that night and saw 2 guys come out of one of the permanent trailers and and proceeded to go to overnighters rv and steal bikes. I let my German Shepherd out and the last thing I saw was 2 guys running away yelling. I asked the manager if they had a problem with thefts and he said no, never. I reminded him that I reported a theft 2 weeks earlier. I called the police on him.

Had two bikes stolen from RV Park in Indio California 2 years ago. They were cable locked up to the back of the MH, thieves cut the cable sometime in the night. Other than that my wife smokes (outside) and sometimes used to leave her open pack beside her chair. After losing a few packs, she doesn't do that too often any more.

Been camping over 50 years and never had anything stolen from a campground...until 4 weeks ago. Our Winnebago Drop was stolen in Wears Valley Tennessee and has not been recovered.

About 10 years ago, we were camping in our travel trailer and had our generator and a large cooler stolen while we slept.. We take care to secure everything before we go to bed now.

Left 6 camp chairs to hold our spot at a grand canyon camp ground.. They didn't steal the spot, just the chairs!

Moral: Don't use something you can lose to hold something you can't own.

+1
I did a similar one many yrs ago when we started RVing. Left a water hose & filter on the pedestal to signify the site was taken. Returned at end of day and it was gone! Never again... let someone set up and I'll make them move. Too bad... so sad...

I have been camping for many years, in my younger years when the kids were young and I had a pop-up to being 74 with a motorhome. Never had anything stolen. Down south
