SO sorry for this episode, Chickadee. Being from Louisiana, I hate to see this happen to you in my state, just 30 miles from me. I hope youdon't think we are all bad. I hope you return to our state. I always say if you could catch a scum bag like this in the act and introduce him to MR. smith& wesson, he might reform his ways. If you come back through this area, contact me and I will show you what the real Louisiana is like.
bigcajn@aol.com

Being from Louisiana, I hope nobody thinks this thing is normal in our state. We hate criminals as much as any body else. Just lock your doors and windows and be carefule, this could happen anywhere in our beautiful country, it's sad but so true.
I always rely on mr s&w and double check my doors and windows at night.

Please don't let this discourage you from visiting our beautiful state of Louisiana. we don't condone this act by a criminal, unfortunately, it could happen anywhere.

I am very glad you are OK and that the intrusion was nothing more! We have a dog and I recommend dogs for security. We have even used "Beware of Dog" signs when long terming in places I have concerns about.
One of the things I have concern about is the increasing incidence of Home Invasions. These folks come armed and ready for dogs and irate owners. Reminds me of some of the stuff that takes place South of the Border. We had one happen about a mile from where we are staying and the owner shot the lead invader dead and the rest dispersed into the night. Ten miles South of us there have been three invasions. The owners are tied up as the invaders sift thru personal belongings. I tend to sleep in the bedroom which is in back. I have also been known to fall asleep at this idiot machine, (computer), which is up front so I can be anywhere at any given time. The dog is always up front. I keep firearms nearby and we are always dead-bolted at night.
All of this said the only problems I have ever had have been with some stone throwing youth.

Chuck,
We are camped in a really nice area with little crime. We are in Albuquerque and as with all Cities demographics change within a short distance. Nonetheless this type of crime seems to be more prevalent than in years past. Rest assured you can come to this City and have a very reasonable expectation nothing bad will happen.

That's what we Texans "carry". If we need something more serious, we turn the dogs loose.

I'm glad everybody is safe and no major loses or damages happened.

What sort of rating are you going to give them on RV Park Reviews?

Perhaps we need to start posting in the Reviews about campgrounds that are or are not safe. But that would be a subjective thing. We have been places that I didn't feel safe but David did. I have learned (and tried to pound it into my daughters' heads), to listen to my instincts... if I don't feel safe then there's a very good chance that I'm not!

I use a in-fared driveway alarm to point out the window with an alarm inside. If anything goes by it beeps. I also have it pointed at my toad when its loose. It wakes up the dogs.

Got it at Harborfreight

PHIL, Love Albuquerque, we have friends and have spent lots of time in Taos. I used to work in New Mexico and remember when the Baloon Fiesta was getting underway. We stayed at the KOA in Bernallio this year for the Fiesta. Very nice people own it. Not like most KOA's where there is an extra charge if you want them to smile. We are in your part of the country at least once a year and always feel very safe.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, carry a can of Wasp & Hornet spray or Pepper spray. It will stop any attacking animal as well as their owners. One thing I learned years ago is that you have to be self sufficiant and be able to protect yourself at all times.

NO I'm not the governor, although I know he would be as concerned as I am. Things like that give any town and state a bad name. I would like to point out that this place is on I10 and the criminal could have been passing through and from any other state.
