Actually, even the car by itself it will not get 40 mpg. There are better fuel efficient cars than Smart car. Although I do see the humor in the picture.

Why? The trailer brakes should stop it, without the Smart.

Actually, our smart car does, indeed, get 40 mpg on the highway. Around town we get 34 mpg. Can you let us know which other non-hybrid cars get more than 40 mpg?

I don't get 40, but my MGB GT gets 33 and it is 41 years old. the 40 year old B get 28 mpg. And thousand smiles to the miles!
I did pull a small U-Haul from San Diego to NC with a 67 GT back around 1970. But I'm not up to a 5er!

We get 49 MPG highway, 30-35 city in our 2013 VW Passat TDI SEL. Nice and roomy and as good a ride of any heavy full sized car from the 60's, 70's, & 80's I've own.

I get roughly the same with my 2011 Jetta TDI. Always above 40 a tank.

I know a clever way to get 50+ MPG on a Honda CRV...Just leave it running after you hook it up for towing and pull it behind your RV for an hour.
