This couch has got to go!

Hello everyone. I want to replace my jack knife sofa with two recliners. I know it can be done easily, just don't know which brand of recliner to go after. I am pretty sure they will fit in the space where the couch is in now. Some say just go to Lazy Boy. Thanks for your comments.

We went Flex Steel. Best couch I've ever own. Very spendy. But worth it, in my book. We full time in our rig. Even nice to crash out on. Apollo is the style.

Had two leather euro recliners in our fiver. Not everyone likes them, but they were fairly comfortable for 13 years.

In my previous toy hauler I took out the crappy sofa parts and it's even worse convoluted air bed and put in 2 swivel rocker recliners. They were Best brand, petite in size and very comfortable. They were not wall hugger but still worked well for that application. I did save all the original sofa parts and reinstalled before I sold it. Most buyers will want original equipment. The petite size still has plenty of sitting space just not overstuffed. Lazyboy also lists some with that size.

In our travel trailer we took out the terrible jack knife sofa too. Your best bet is to just go try a bunch of recliners until you find one you like. Go to the store equipped with the measurements of your space. No one else can tell you what will work for you since we all have different comfort expectations. We actually ended up with IKEA recliners, but the Flexsteel and Lambright ones are nice too. Recliners come with their backs off, so you should have no trouble fitting a new one through the door.

We ordered the theater seating for our '04 Mountain Aire, when we owned it, and they were awesome. Had USB ports, reading lights built into the storage cover, & a 110 volt electrical outlet too!

Very pleased with my https://www.recpro.com/recpro-charle...gger-recliner/ that replaced a 10 year old leather Lazy Boy. This is truly a wall hugger, very comfortable, and really nice to have the electric recline & USB port. The upholstery is even nice & comfy.

We did this 18 months ago, one of the best mods we did. We bought an inexpensive twin recliner with one of those storage things in the middle, $450. Its comfortable in seat or recline. In the recline mode it moves back about two inches. This is important; make sure when you secure it to the floor it will recline without hitting wall.

I think the important part is to find one that is comfortable. I'm very long waisted and need a tall back recliner. I think the other considerations would be a wall hugger model so you don't have to move it and if your TV is at a right angle to the chairs, buy some that swivel too.

Agreed. We bought a theatre seating set up from them. Picked it up directly from their showroom/factory in La Habra, CA. All made there unlike RecPro which is made in China last time I checked.

Thanks for all the feedback on replacing our couch. Right now the camper is in storage and I don't know when this virus nightmare will end. Internet shopping is all that's going on here. Everyone be safe.

I don't know if anyone has had any bad experience with their so-called leather cracking and peeling, but I have seen several sofas and chairs with that soft glove like leather that already cracking and peeling off. There is a thread on here somewhere that addresses this problem. Something about a material that is actually "coated" with some kind of leather by-product that is coming from China and used on newer RV furniture.

My friend has two lazy boy recliners in his two year old 5th wheel. The backs of the chairs started cracking and peeling. He thought it may have been from strapping them together while traveling. He was also told that it may have been because they were strapped together during cold weather.

However, I have to say I think its a material quality issue. We were shopping around for the possibility of also removing a sofa from our 2000 Discovery which is actually a very nice quality leather.

While looking at a name brand furniture store, we noticed three different couches that were already cracking and starting to peel. I pointed it out to the sales guy as to why there were three different ones doing the same thing…. His answer? Ready? "Well they are floor models". I said " really? These probably don't even get sat on every day and they are brand new!"

My point here is be careful and ask about the material before purchasing whatever you decide on. Do some research….maybe google cracking/peeling leather on chairs and sofas. Its buyer beware time. Good luck on whatever you decide.
