Thomas Payne furniture

Bought Thomas Payne furniture.68" Tri-Fold Sofa and 2 Euro Recliner chairs for our fifth-wheel. Now just around 4 years old, material is literally flaking off. Trailer is kept under RV port and dehumidifier running when not camping. When new it looked like leather, now looks like when you get a bad sunburn and your skin starts peeling. Not sure if it would be worth trying to get it recovered or not. Has anyone else bought this furniture and having same problem

I know of people have written letters to companies about unsatisfactory purchases and have gotten replacements even beyond original purchase price and warranty . I would leave out the inside RV part . Once peeling starts it goes to heck fast.

Google Thomas Payne Furniture and you can read for hours.
FWIW there are different levels of TP furniture.

I have two of the Thomas Payne Euro chairs, replaced the dinette, love them.
Had them about three years with modest use still in good condition.
I have recently noticed on one chair, on the arm, a small pea size piece if the pleather material is missing. Could be the beginning of the condition you describe.

The newer Thomas Payne stuff seems to use PolyHyde instead of pleather. The older stuff apparently deteriorates from contact with body oils and similar.

Interestingly, our dealer wanted to sell us a furniture protectant application and we refused. Lippert says to just use warm water and a mild soap to clean PolyHyde and never apply anything else. I wonder how many people with the older stuff that deteriorates had Scotchgard or similar applied that may have caused the deterioration faster.

A lot of the deteriorating furniture seems to have been made by Flexsteel and they exited the RV business during the pandemic.

The issue is not unique to Thomas Payne. While shopping for motorhomes, I saw plenty of pealing furniture in just about every brand of RV. Flexsteel got out of the RV furniture business because of it. We replaced our furniture with La-z-boy recliners. They are well made, more comfortable, and come apart to fit through the narrow doors.
