Tips to trade class c for a travel trailer

We just bought this RV last fall (1997 Four Winds) but have been unable to use it as all our park reservations were cancelled due to the virus. Over the winter we decided it wasn't up to the task of pulling our 30ft race car trailer, so we did a diy LQ in our rc trailer. Now we don't need the RV. But I still want a small unit to camp in occasionally. The 32 ft. RV is just too much for us. I was thinking of trying to trade even for a tag or fifth wheel camper of equal value. Is this a good idea? How should I advertise and what should I be cautious about. We want to try for an 18 to 24 ft. Do people attempt this very often?

I don't know what an LQ is but if you get a TT or 5th wheel do you have a vehicle worthy of towing it? And you sure can't pull a camper of any sort AND a race car trailer at the same time.

A LQ is living quarters. We put a couch, a bed in gn, small fridge, tv, hot plate and toaster oven and camping porti potti in the rc trailer. It actually turned out nice. We pull the rc trailer with our 1 ton dually. We would pull a camper with that truck. Not at the same time we are pulling a rc trailer. The rc would not go camping with us.

I assume that the Class C does not have the capacity to tow your race car trailer. If the issue is hitch strength, there is a population of racers who have upgraded their hitch to tow heavier trailers. If the issue is performance, that is more challenging and likely one you should avoid since you have a solution working.

So, if the C is not good enough for you, it likely will fall short for other racers. Maybe a lighter weight class racer could use it. In all likelihood it's going to be hard to find a trade. Suggest you sell the C yourself. RVs seem to be popular now. Worth the effort. You can always fall back and trade it for something that works for you if it does not sell. Good luck with your effort.

Cs usually sell quick and for higher prices than you might think. Sell and then buy or you will take a hit. Don't think a dealer is going to do you any favors.
