Tire Air

Now that the winter is over and summer camping season is just around the corner everyone is getting their rigs serviced and ready to go on the road. Be sure to remember to change the winter air in your tires to fresh summer air. You wouldn't want to be caught on the road this summer with the wrong type of air in your tires.

I use 5 year, all season nitrogen, in my tires. I have the O2 scrubbed out every other year.

I'm using a 78% nitrogen blend that is good for year round use.

I use helium. Lighter than air, and actually gives a "lift" to my rig. Unsprung weight is so much less, and fuel milage is "way up there"

Before I retired, I was regularly flying trips to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each trip, I'd bring home a sealed plastic bag of air from Buenos Aires and run it through a compressor for my motorhome. The "Good Air" provided many benefits. Even better was that while it was winter in the northern hemisphere, it was SUMMER in the southern. I was able to bag summer air, even during the winter here.

Take care,
Stu

It's much better to run winter air all year because it is dryer. But only if imported from up nort'. Yellowknife in Canada is my favorite especially with a good exchange rate. Contact YKDA with size and number of tires and it will be deliver free of charge via Artic Clipper.

It finally occurred to me that with all the beans my family ingests, methane might be the way to go. I ended up designing our dining room chairs to capture the released gases to be used later in the tires of all our vehicles. Like helium, these gases have helped improve fuel mileage and made our RV "appear" lighter at the scales. The one drawback is that we do have to make sure to keep open flames from around the tires.

I also feel sorry for the guy at the tire shop who changes out your tires when they are needed!

I don't want to be around when one blows!

I like to run winter air in mine. I find it keeps the tires cooler on a hot day.

You can check the pressure anytime as well because they are always cold.

Don't forget to top off your blinker fluid, that way you avoid turn signal failure.
