But cheap ingredients must still be attractive to the producers.
Note that tires are exposed to a lot of petroleum distillates in normal use anyway. Macadam roads, exhaust gases, oily dirt on highway surfaces, etc.

That's kind of like saying that our skin is exposed to a lot of UV anyway, so why not expose it to more to keep a nice tan.

Whatever winds your clock. Just see no purpose in putting olive oil on tires.

I feel it makes them look better without doing damage.

Doesn't it get sticky? Or attract Italian mice?

I use McKee's 37 (via another Dutch Star RVer) and I'm very pleased thus far with the results. While it doesn't offer UV protectant the coating is thick and company reports it blocks the rays. Unlike directions, I use a quality paint brush to apply. I typically move too much and won't bother with covers.
I love the look and did it about 1 month ago...
It leaves a wet type finish but it's not. Brush up against it and you're really black (not easy to get off either)... I've put 3-4 coats on since purchase but didn't need to apply it so often. I'm kinda fussy.
I think they look sweet for a 1 month ago application....
Naturally it's non-petroleum

I've mostly used soap and water with a brush when the coach gets washed. I could never see the need to coat one side of six tires when there are 10 other sides that are never washed, but also exposed to the same road and ozone environment. The only extra protection I will use are tire covers if it will be parked for a week or more.

The OP was only interested in looks, not protection. Others including me added the protective element to the thread for added information.
Comment on a couple other posts, and being a past and current show car owner, don't get the 'wet look'. A clean, black tire is normal. Your choice of course, though it is a distraction to me at a show and to many others

303, after pulling the wheels (one at a time) off the RV. I wash and wax both the inside (inboard) and outside (outboard) sides of the wheels, and then put 303 on the tires, again both inboard and out board sides. I did three today, and will do the other two tomorrow morning. (Five wheels, including the spare.) I do this twice a year.
Between the times I pull off the wheels, about once a month, I apply 303 to both the inboard and outboard sides of the tires. I also wash them as necessary.
The tires are now three years old and still look great.
