If you only used Scott’s on one trip it then sensor issues could have been something unrelated to use of the Scott’s.
We have no issues using Charmin Ultra Soft, and we were frequent campers before we went full time a few months ago. We use plenty of water, and typically wait until tank is at least 2/3 full before dumping.
Every five or so tanks I use a big squeeze of Dawn dish soap when the tank indicates 1/3 full. I make no claim as to it working or not, but it’s a technique used by folks for decades...could be pure hokum but it’s cheap ($12/yr for two bottles) and easy (big squeeze), and I’ve not had any issues.

I wonder about flushable wipes. They say they are septic safe. Anyone use them?
Also, every so often, but not more than once a year or maybe every other year, I do the 1/2 full tank with a whole bunch of Ice Cubes for a drive thing...

A few have apparently made it through our tanks, but our rule is “no wipes”. Also, I can say from experience that neither wipes nor q-tips run through a macerator pump nicely (which is when we enacted the “no unsupervised kids” rule).
Maybe the septic safe ones eventually break down, but in a black tank for only a few days I doubt it. Consider they come packed in water...and yet they still don’t break apart when used.

Oh no. Now that 137 of us have commented we have to cycle through again? Ok, Kirkland and sensors work.

LMAO......
Had to laugh to myself when I realized how many folks just had to comment on this subject. It truly is something every RVer has to deal with. If you are new to RVing all this info is probably very useful. If you're an ol' fart like me it's pretty much just common sense now.
Happy Trails to all...and keep your black tank never more than 1/2 full to avoid issues down the road.

Actuality
You can read on the TP package it it can go into septics, or use in an RV. Although there is no difference in the chemical nature of any TP, the post processing, single-ply, double-ply, textured, etc. So the expensive stuff if you feel better; else read the package in the supermarket. A good example is Scott's 1000.

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone state this. I'm glad it works for you but I wouldn't go to telling people to never go over half full. I'd imagine the majority of seasoned RVers make it a point to try and have more than that in the tank before dumping.

Agreed...we like to wait until at least the 2/3 sensor is covered if we can, and occasionally we let it get up to the Full sensor (which is not totally full obviously).

Corn cobs
Do not use corn cobs they are great in the out house and you can get 4 good wips with them but they will plug up your black tank for sure!

This thread is killing me! It's hilarious listening to peoples opinions. This is my opinion for whatever it's worth. I think my black tank is big, too big, who knows? I don't think I could ever fill it up. I suppose if you dry camp for a month. But these are travel trailers.....you travel with them, whatever you want to call them. If you're boondocking that long bring an extra tank lol. I have never wanted to have a black tank story to tell so, I, like the other smart or seasoned travellers use lots of water!! I always fill my tank half full with water before we go anywhere. I let my grandkids, if they're with us, me and the DW to do the rest! I have never filled up a black tank with my poop or pee. Is it possible lol? Do you realize how much material that is?! Can you imagine if you didn't put any water, or not enough of it in the tank to begin with!? These are the people, unfortunately, that are probably having the problems and that we have so many stories to talk about. Water breaks up and flows your oowy goewy material downhill! I tell you it scares me when I open my black tank valve and listen. When I bend down low and close to the dump valve and listen I cringe (you know the description of cringe?!...'bend one's head and body in fear'!) and hear that powerful flow! But that's the flow of beauty! It sends shivers down my back! It works!! Everything flows!...well!! But when I don't hear anything, or it's basically a trickle, we have problems! I don't want chitty problems or chitty stories to tell. I leave that for my friends.
