We went to Germany for 3.5 years (Army) and left our boat at inlaws. Fully covered, special carb fog, etc.. All holes sealed, taped etc.. Spent two weeks digging mud dauber nests out of it. Ran fine but what a pain.. Sell her, save the cash don't spend it on dive lessons. You can get those cheap at MWR. save some extra cash and get a nicer rig when you come back. Mahalo.

I agree with the majority. Rv's trucks, boats etc. are train wrecks financially. Unless you have cash to burn, the only justification is use and enjoyment. I say sell em'! Save the cash and when you're back, dive back in.

Thanks for your service!!!

They will ship one vehicle. We are sending the DW's Corolla. Parking spaces are small and a 1 ton truck would be a hassle.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We will sell them and save the money. I agree that $40-50k will be a nice down payment on another RV.

What cabinet stain is your Cameo? Someone said sell the RV and buy a better one in the future...I think the Cameo is a very nice unit.....

Yes, RV's are a cash drain. If you buy um, you got to use it...

Our 05' trailer (6 seasons) has 320+ nights of use......So without being retired or a full-timer...I'm getting my $$$'s worth.....And still looks prime....shape

I just thought I would update you all on what we did. We sold both the truck and 5RV prior to moving out to Hawaii. While not camping for the next few years will take some getting used to, we are now able to save a considerable amount each month and look to buy a nice DP once we return. We enjoy the island enough that we might just stay here for a second tour (total of 6 years). I'm able to retire now so every additional year just increases the retirement income.

Thanks to all who helped provide their thoughts on this.

Tell Kaneohe that Ed said "Hey". Loved that place and miss the good times.

Spent 3 years in Hawaii at Kaneohe 1965-1968. It was expensive then, and I'm sure it is expensive now.

Have you checked out the MWR to see if they have some campers? You and family may get to prep-up for future lower 48 camping.

Wayne, I haven't checked. It's a bit more expensive than what DC was but now we live on Hickem AFB and receive COLA so we can save plenty and still enjoy the island.
