Hello:
I live in Fl and it is truly VERY hot.I have been eating salad and cold
recipes,but thinking about it, I came up with a wild idea.
I figure it will be cooler to use a toaster oven that my propane oven/stove.Do you use one?.Pro and con please?Any particular one that you prefer above the others?Can one bake in one of them?

We had a toaster oven for quite a few years...never used it, took it to the stick house and use the convection/microwave in the MH.

We use one... and often a crock pot.
(In hot weather out of the coach on a picnic table).

We have a convection toaster over.. cook/ bake/ toast... you name it.. on really warm days its used outside.. as it still heats of the camper.

but remember the amp draw... do not use at the same time as microwave.. unless on separate circuits.

we have a 30 amp camper.. so one or the other. never both.

I have and use a convection, toaster oven. Not very large, may hold 4 slices of bread, or a bit more. I used it for every thing. Cook sausage in the am. The timer makes it a no brainer. I have even cooked a small beef roast. The timer broke and it just stays on until i pull the plug. So it don't get used as much.

I have two toaster ovens and I bake in both of them.

The Breville smart oven, in its various sizes (mine is the largest, 800 model) works superbly for toasting up to six slices of bread. The small height of the oven cavity limits baking to flatter items, but I have baked bread in Pullman pans using a piece of foil on top to prevent burning. The newest Breville can slow-roast for ten hours. Mine cannot be set for more than two hours.

I also have a Wolf countertop oven. It is horrible for toasting, as in un-browned hot bread, but bakes and roasts like nobody's business for up to four hours at a time, and has a temperature probe for roasting meats. If you're not married to microwave cooking, this oven could probably replace it.

I have never used either in the motorhome, because I don't have any counter space with sufficient vertical clearance for safe operation. Breville recommends 8" clear space above the oven. Wolf says 4" is fine. If I had a safe space, I would use the Breville in the RV. It needs about the same amount of counter space as a four-slice toaster.

I have the Wolfgang Puck Pressure Oven that roasts, bakes, broils, toasts, warms....works great in less time.....looks great on the counter top!

We have a small toaster oven and use it a lot. One problem we initially had was how to keep in stationary on the counter. The toaster oven had 2 brackets that normally have the cord wrapped around them I improvise a couple spring rods that fit into the bracket. The spring rods are under compression between the counter and upper cabinet. Works great and the toaster oven has never moved.

In the last 26 years, we have used them in pop-ups, a travel trailer and 5th wheels. We bought a motor home earlier this year and have microwave/convection oven. We brought the toaster oven with us and but really like the microwave/convection oven and haven't used it. Now it just takes up cupboard space and will leave it home on future trips.

As with virtually any of the "extra" kitchen appliances - it all depends on what sort of foods you like to prepare.

For us breakfasts usually include some sort of bread (multigrain bread, bagels, etc.) So, we've got a toaster oven that we use regularly. There's nothing special about it ... basically an on/off/timer sort of dial and that's about it. For the way we cook and eat - a very basic toaster oven fits our needs.

It travels in the "appliance cupboard" (along with the crock pot and electric skillet).

We use ours occasionally. I have to remove the smoke alarm when we do so it won't go off.

I have a toaster oven in mine given I wont use propane so it took the place of the gas oven. I dont do much cooking though so 80% of the time it's function is that of a digital clock.

since I moved to Nest Protects for smoke detectors I dont have the alarm issue. It knows the difference between burnt toast and an actual fire. In fact, they will send a vocal 'heads up' voice alert before sounding if it detects cooking odors so it doesnt beep
