Toilet Paper
Hi folks,
We are new to the RV world. Is it really that big of deal what kind of toilet paper we use? We've been on boats that had a macerator and you could use any toilet paper you wanted.
Thanks for addressing this sensitive issue.

Oh yes, it is very important not to pay to much. This video should answer your question.

Welcome to the RV world. You will LOVE it!!!
We use the POM brand. We get it in a big box at SAM's club. It says "Safe for Marine, RV, and Septic Tank use" on the box.

Have had RV's for 30 years or so and never had any concern about what brand or type we used.
They all work fine.

If you keep a good amount of water in your black tank before you dump it doesn't care what brand of TP you use. This is not about your tank and its not about you. The big thing you need to watch out for above all else is making sure the brand is the one the DW likes .

Never had a problem as someone else mentioned just keep enough water in the black tank. Like I always said when I did deliverys "keep the black tank closed when hooked up at a campground and this prevents Mt. Poop from erupting in the bottom"

I just read to DW the comments in the thread and her thoughts were that it probably doesn't make a difference in the black tank but probably makes a difference in the CGs septic system.....never thought of it that way.

No problem! Just use Happy Camper tank treatment and you can use any kind of toilet paper you want! (at least any kind that's safe for septic systems, which is most of them)

After having problems with the so-called RV brands, switch to Angel Soft several years ago.

Don't worry about the park's septic system because half the customers care a lot less about it than worrying what paper is used. Formaldehyde tank treatment nasties and all sorts of other tank treatments (all a waste of money) would have killed any septic system years ago.
BTW Has anyone ever seen a scientific specification for "septic system safe" in relation to toilet paper

I've been using Costco brand for yrs. No problem. Just make sure you have a good amount of water in the black tank before you empty it. Couple of gallons of water afterwards and your set for the next cycle.

The stuff that they have in the toilets at the campgrounds works pretty good.
