Scenic Route: Thanks for cg conditions Crater Lake region. I'd only do this during summertime, I am not a snow lover. We know they get tons of it there. I'll let the snow lovers have the whole park setting for winter.

DW & I visited there about 10 yrs ago. We camped at Farewell Bend Campground on hwy 62, about 20 - 30 minutes west of the south entrance. This CG is at a much lower elevation from what I remember. Not sure of the hookups available we were in a backpacking tent. I do remember there was a little diner in front of the campground that had delicious home made pies. Most likely still there. It had been there for many many years before we were there.
We were at Crater lake in the beginning of June of 2001 or 2002. The CG at Crater lake was closed except for RV's & had 4' of snow. The road around the lake was only open to the lodge. There was several feet of snow & it was inpassable. If you get a chance be sure to check out the lodge.
