Travel Planning Maps
Hi,
I am looking for an app or program to plan RV trips. Something like a replacement for Microsoft maps and trip planner which is not being updated anymore. Thanks.

I use GoogleMaps.com and Mapquest.com for my travels--worldwide.
Their maps continue to amaze me. On GoogleMaps, you can magnify the maps to where you can see all the businesses and details along the way. And you can see a satellite picture of where you're going.

Still new at this but someone had posted about RV PARKY I like it because you can pick a location along your travels then it shows places you can overnight such as Walmart or campgrounds.
Will also use other methods to compliment but RV parky will be part of my planning.
Also when i purchase Passport America good way to pick my next destination.

I'm fond of Delorme's Street Atlas plus. It's easy to use and I map out our longer trips with stops and points of interest.

Another new player is found at http://www.furkot.com. It's an online tool using Google Maps. Personally I use Basecamp along with my Garmin units.

If you are able to do your trip planning try RVTRIPWIZARD.COM they do charge a subscription fee but it is quite a complete offering

Unfortunately Google maps is going to be abandoned within the year.

+2 on rvtripwizzard. We're using it now to plane our trip to Alaska this spring and it has been great. Richard the owner creator has been great and very fast to answer all questions. Well worth the money and love how you can change your driving distance/time for planing. Give it a test drive, you won't regret it.

Google Maps is not being abandoned.
Google is ending support for Google Maps Engine, which is a commercial product for producing and publishing map overlays for Google Maps.

I've been using the usual - Google and Mapquest (which has some, IMHO, kinks) and lately even the Good Sam travel planner. It seems that they all are missing one thing or another but a combo of them seems to work for me. Then occasionally, point a finger on the big Michelin USA map, see where it is, then go to the bound Michelin guide and map it out manually. That rvtripwizzard looks like a decent offering but I'm not sure that I can justify the $39 subscription fee enough to make it valuable to me though that may change in time.

I would say yes regarding the propane. To the OP, you may want to consider buying a RV specific GPS unit. That way you can plan your trip with stops, gas, points of interest, campgrounds and more right on the unit. Also, the RV models with have bigger screens to make viewing them easier while on the highway and in un-familiar surroundings. Bought one myself last September to use on a trip from WNY State to Atlanta then back up to Gatlinburg TN and it was great.
