If you are licensed appropriately in your home state you are good to go. When you get to the border have your passports available and answer their questions honestly, but don't volunteer information.

Food items are a big deal. Get on the Canadian site and read the latest list. No nothing to do with firearms unless you are taking one then get the form for long gun only and fill it out and check on return to US for items on return.

like us, you can ask your Insurer to provide you with a Canada Insurance ID CARD, or a statement saying that the policy covers you in Canada, though we never had either Canada or the USA re-entry to ask us for it.
