I'm pretty surprised at the short life many are getting from their GC battys. I have always figured on 5 yrs +/- when using them on boat or MH.
I will admit I dont boondock a lot and store both in off season. I do maintain them and keep them on trickle charge in storage in off season.
I have switched to AGM on boat and going on 7 th season. (And unable to charge in storage)
Just switched to AGM on MH so too soon to report but the old FLAs were original equip on a 2014 and still OK... I just wanted to take advantage of sequester to refurbish the slide tray before switching to AGM.

Corrosion reduction

Reduced voltage drop

Faster charging without gassing

Reduced terminal maintenance

Longer battery cable life

Reduced battery exchanges

All with AGM, so for me well worth double the cost

I just recently ran into the term “motive” in labels of batteries. What does the word mean in regards RV use?

Has anybody used US battery’s? The dealer told me they were comparable to the Trojan line of batteries, but cheaper.
Thanks, Rob

I know the O.P. is in Canada but I went from Interstates to US Battery 6 volts. Once I got them broken in I seem to get 2-3 more hours of night time inverter use than I ever got with my Interstates. I decided on US Batts after I saw a battery seminar at the Pomona RV show. I'm pretty sure it was sponsored by US so I did more research. There is a side by side comparison between the US and Trojan 105. The US did markedly better in testing. Of course Trojan called foul etc.. I was at the LA boat show and got a show special, 4 USA batteries installed under $400.00. I also run a watering system which I highly recommend. I top off my batteries once a month when I run the gennie.

I just replaced 8 house batteries with the Trojans. The original Interstate batteries were 6 years old. Hope these new ones last as long or longer.

I have 4ea. Duracell 6v-235ah. They're actually Deka, made by Eastern Penn. I've not proven them on a longevity test yet. I've had them for right at 2 years now and they are strong. I've kept them maintained with a pretty stout solar set up and equalize them every 2 months unless I burn them down to 60% then I equalize right after that. My thought is that the Deka Batteries should be every bit as good as the Trojans. But we won't know that for a few years.
