Truck Conversion in NC

Hi,
My husband recently bought an International single axle road tractor that he is converting from commercial hauler to an RV hauler to pull our 38 ft 5th wheel camper. He has removed the commercial 5th wheel and replaced with an RV 5th wheel and has removed the commercial air lines, added electric brakes and closed in the back to look like a flat bed truck. Our big question now is how to get the truck retitled in NC from a commercial truck to a recreational only vehicle. My husband has a call in to the DMV enforcement but we would really like to know what the requirements are, I can't find any on the state site, and if anyone else has gone thru this and can give us some pointers. Thanks so much for any information you can give!
