I will be returning back to Florida from a trip to New England by way of Interstate 95. I know I will encounter some tunnels in the Chesapeake Bay area. Are there any restrictions for pulling a travel trailer through a tunnel other than having to turn off the propane tanks? Are there any tunnels that are closed to travel trailers?

Roy, the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel prohibits propane regardless of whether it is turned on or off. The best way around it is to take I-695 beltway and then rejoin 95 on the other side. I do not personally know anyone who has gotten fined; but, I understand it is $1,000 so why take a chance, Ken...

Roy, you can take rt 58 to 264 to 13 Chasapeake Bay bridge, you just have to turn off LP interesting drive and you miss all that Wash an Balti traffic or take 207 just north of Richmond to 301 than 50,301 to 95 north. You will be going up the Delmar route to Deleware Bridge which ever way you chose. Its a more relaxing drive. "007"

All good suggestions....depends on personal preference....

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel from Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore of VA (Route 13) does allow LP....

Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll just use the Francis Scott Key bridge. It's just one more toll to add to all the others in D.C., Maryland and Virginia!!

Roy: We have traveled the Maine to Florida via Virginia many time by many different routes. You might lool at 84 west out of Hartford CT to 81 in PA and than south to 270 and pick up 95 just south of Washington. or you could pick up 684 south of Danbury CT to the TAPPAN ZEE bridge the Garden State Parkway south and than pick up the NJ turnpike and go west on 695 to get around Baltimore to 95 south. Go West around Washington on 495 to miss the construction at the Wilson Bridge and than you can pick up 95 south. Go 295 around Richmond. If I can help, please E-Mail at bobmackissock@yahoo.com. I've been up and down the east coast 50/60 times. Take care, be safe and enjoy
