TV wall mount

Has anyone used a swinging wall mount on their up front TV? I want to get at the back inputs occasionally adding devices - Apple TV etc. I don't want to make a rattletrap though what with all those nuts and bolts and extended arms.
Maybe better to have pig tails hanging down and be secure and quiet?
Cheers, rB

I have. When I upgraded the front TV. The bolt pattern wouldn't match. So I bought a swing mount that matched the new TV. Now I can swing the TV around for better viewing.

Replaced CRT with flat screen TV. Closed hole where CRT was mounted with 3/4 inch plywood and mounted the flat screen on swing out mount. Added a Velcro strap to control TV movement while underway.

My rig had a 27" analog tube type TV when I bought it. Initially I replaced with a flat screen and simply mounted a TV on a hinge to lift it up. Worked OK but access to the TV cabinet was not great.

So when I had to replace with a different TV I installed a swing away type mount. I bought a metal square baluster at Lowes that came with an upper and lower mounting bracket. Just had to figure out the distance left to right so that the TV would be centered in the opening and then vertically. I filled the gap on the top with a piece of vinyl that matched the ceiling. Worked good. I added a shelf in the TV box that fits CD's. There is a lot of space up there so we store CD's, binoculars, DVD's and other stuff.

I made mine with a door covering the vacant cabinet, hinged at the top, TV mount on door. Now I have all that vacant steel cabinet to store A/V stuff, CD's, tapes, DVD's, etc.

Thanks all

Some great solutions to the front tv cavity after going to flat screen. I think I'll stick to my current hard surface connection and just use pigtails to connect devices. My other problem is the bedroom TV has gone kablooey but new TVs have no analogue video/audio connections- jeez
