TX State Inspection
My vehicle will need a State Inspection in September, I am in Baytown, TX and do not seem to be able to find out who can do this service, anyone have any ideas, I see Speedco has an inspection sign but they don't seem to get very good reviews, so looking for someone else.

Just start calling around. I think that is the only way to find a place that will do it. It is a simple inspection. lights, horn and that is about it.

It's just a standard vehicle inspection in TX, nothing at all different because it's a motorhome. Anyone who inspects cars in TX is qualified to do it. You just need to look for a place that has enough space to get your rig in and out.

Most places will inspect your RV outside, most oil change places also due inspections. The cost is $7.00. Keep the inspection form to submit with rest of your paperwork.
You won’t even need to leave the drivers seat, all they have ever checked for me is lights, horn, signals, wipers, and current insurance. Easy peasy.

Are Speedco's reviews for the inspection or for regular service? The inspection is so simple - hard to cause a bad review.
The list given by GuyG should solve your problem.

ditto, all they check is lights, horns and wipers. maybe look at tires. they cant drive it
i get mine done at local tire repair oil change place, i pull up and they walk around verify VIN and look at lights.
but you can also do it online and if the rv is out of state, you check that box and then pay for your tag and its mailed to you. i have done this many times . its easier when we are traveling near the due date

I take mine to a car oil change place. The RV is parked out side. I take them the insurance paperwork and pay them $7 and they give me a piece of paper to show the County Tax people for the registration. They never even once look at the RV.
Pretty much the same thing with our cars, too. Sometimes they check the brake lights, turn signal and horn. But mostly just give me the form.
In the "old" days, when inspections cost more they used to actually drive a bit and test the brakes. But shops would refuse to give folks a clean inspection if they didn't get to do some repair and a higher price. The law was changed so that $7 is the most they can charge so they don't do anything any more.
They give you a paper receipt but they enter it into the state's computer system. So, unless you immediately go to get your registration you don't really even need that.

Inspection
It all depends on which county your vehicle is registered in. Some counties require an emissions test.
Google Texas vehicle inspection and from the Texas official site you can find not only inspection locations locally but also what inspections you county requires.

Most lube places do inspections as well. Baytown is adjacent to Houston and will require an emissions test on all gasoline engine units.

I wondered how that would work if you had your vehicle inspected in a county that required emissions testing BUT it was registered in a country that did not. Fortunately, I have not had to worry about that.

Well, I live in Tarrant county (DFW) and I've never gotten an emissions test. They just look the insurance and check the lights and horn. Even when it cost more 4 years ago.

FYI. I do believe if it is a gasser, then the inspection is more involved like a car is. The DPs are 7.00 in and out.

No.
They check your horn, lights, and ins.
That's it.
