The dealers don't give a discount, you must negotiate for it. Base your offer on condition of RV and research on what that RV should sell for. Read on here what to look for such as tire age, battery age and options then it's a game on what the dealer is asking, how bad you want that RV and how reasonable his asking price is.

Depends on the dealer .. some price high to give you more on your trade in if any and if not give you a great deal. I was told by a old guy who owned a rv business if I don't price high I'll miss the guy who walks in and doesn't negotiate . He said there were quite a few of those.
Used is a different ballgame as you suspect than buying a new coach

Ask politely for 30% off.....see what happens.
Or....do it via email or fax. No loss of face or fist fights.

Buying used class A and knowing what a fair price is
Is there a web site that provides historical info on used rv sales including price? NADA values seem high. I've seen a lot of motorhomes priced significantly under what NADA says is the low retail.

When they buy a trade in they get low wholesale in a special low low book. They get it ready, and sell it for 40% higher. 20% goes to dealer, 20% goes to salesman. The dealer rarely gets less but a salesman may accept less commission.
Person to person is better.

There is no typical discount for used rigs. It's a wide open market, with lots of local variations. Not at all like used cars where values are pretty much the same nationwide. You just make an offer and see where it goes, like the proverbial Middle-Eastern bazaar.
The online NADA RV Guide is estimated depreciation, not based on actual sales data. It's a ball park figure only. You can find recent actual sales prices on the PPL website, but those are consignment sales in the south Texas market, so not necessarily comparable to dealer lot prices or other places.
