Updating Entertainment Unit

Just wondering if anyone has completed a mod of upgrading their entertainment unit. Two years ago swapped old 20" Sony Barbell that was called a TV and switched it with a 32" Samsung HD LCD. Awesome picture but now the DVD/Stereo combo is on the way out. Has anyone updated their system with a separate Receiver and added a Blue ray? Will something like this draw too many amps on the system? I would like to keep using the built in surround sound thus wanting to use more than just a blue ray as the HDMI would only play on the TV speakers...Comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

Looking for tunes

I don't know about your system but in mine the DVD/CD player is a "Stand Alone" replacing it with a Blue Ray is a fairly simple job.. Just remove and sub, I'd run an HDMI cable to the nearby MAIN tv. but that's about all.

I've replaced my 27" Sony boat anchor with a 37" LCD TV... replaced the 19" bedroom TV with a 32" LCD... replaced the 20" TV in the outdoor entertainment system with a 26" LED/LCD... replaced the original Winegard sat dish with a new Travel'r HD dish... added a DirecTv HD DVR and connected it all together with HDMI cables. Also added an iPod dock on the dash and tied into the dash stereo to play through all of the house speakers.

We still use the original DVD/CD/Receiver/surround sound unit... but don't really use it much.
