UPS12-300MR Dynasty house battery?

What a day yesterday was....

Pulled the Atlantis out of the garage to sanitize the water system and flush the black tank. Could not figure out how to sanitize the system because I couldn't get the bleach in the tank. My plumbing is like what is shown in the manual and says I should be able to use the pump to suck the bleach water from a bucket. I'm looking over the plumbing and the 4 valves and I do not see how it's possible to fill the tank. I can only flush the pipes. The drawing that is pasted to the side in the pump compartment doesn't even match what I physically have so that's useless. Noticed water dripping from the screen strainer connected to the water pump. Also found out the hot water bypass valve does not bypass. Hot water tank still filled up. I plan on doing some more investigating tonight on sanitizing.

I figured I'd at least flush the black tank out. (First time ever for me).
Hooked up the water hose to the blank tank flush connection and turned on the water. Next thing I hear, wife screaming "shut the water off". The Model 1000 vacuum break/check valve pretty much blew apart. Water everywhere. Luckily not to much but enough to tick me off.

Thought to myself "What's next Boy Blunder?" I had the RV plugged into a dedicated 120v 30amp outlet. (Neighbor is a licensed electrician). As I was disconnecting the sewage hose, I noticed a high pitched squeal coming from the house battery compartment. Opened the door and saw bubbling water and bulging sides on the battery. Immediately unplugged power and started to pull the battery out. It was so hot i couldn't even touch it. Got my welding gloves on and yanked that thing outa of there.

There is only one battery and it's a Dynasty UPS12-300MR.
Is this the correct battery? I looked at pricing and they are well over $100. Can't I get a deep cell from Wally-world? The converter is putting out 13.6 volts. I plan on not using the converter to charge the battery and use a battery charger that is a tender also. I plan on using places that have hook ups and really not sure how much of the house battery I will be using.

Can't wait to actually take it out and use it.

Thanks in advance for the help on the battery.

You should have at least two batteries, one each for the house lighting and such, and one to start the engine. The Dynasty would be the house battery. The brand isn't important, but physical size and amp-hour (AH) capacity are. Unfortunately, Dynasty doesn't quote the industry standard metrics in their brochure, so it's hard to know what replacements are feasible. The dimensions look like a Group 24 size and the power and weight numbers suggest that as well. It is an AGM battery for essentially zero maintenance.

You probably won't find a compatible size & top post (electrical connection) AGM battery at Walmart, but no harm in looking. You could substitute a non-AGM ( a flooded cell) but it won't last as long as the AGM and it requires more care. Your call on that. If you can get the Dynasty 300MR for $125-$150, I would take that. It's a reasonable price for that type and capacity.

I pour the appropriate amount of bleach into my shore attached fresh water hose, attach the hose to the FW fill, and fill the water tank. Your manual might tell you how much bleach per gallon of capacity.

I went with a comparable flood cell. Actually got it from my neighbor's boat (hope he doesn't want to use it very soon). I believe the converter is ok. I put an oscilloscope on it with the battery connected with cutoff switch on and it was giving me 13.3-13.6 volts over an 8 hour period. I'm going to hook it to monitor the current tonight and see what I get there.

never dawned on me to pour the bleach water in the hose. That's pretty smart.

Wife went to the RV store and bought the valves I need. Working on that tonight.

Thanks
