Thanks for cancelling my thread. It's really hard not to get political the way things are right now.

said it before, saying it again.... Thanks, moderator!

There are many reasons to be adverse to political speech on these forums, but I sincerely thank you for allowing a bit of latitude here. After all, when the nation is dead, who will post here again?

Political issues, probably, but please weigh the need for such discussions here, in light of the severity of the situation. You will probably see most of us are well behaved, and those who aren't, do what's necessary. As for the rest of us, please leave the line open.
thanks, am

I think most missed the jest or point of my post. Living in a nice home on an island I don't really see the other side of what's going on. Our news stations are a joke and just tell us what they want us to hear.

I see that there are a lot of foreclosures in the nation and I wondered where are all these poor people going? I lost the house of my dreams because Bank of America wouldn't work with me but I was lucky enough to get another but a very much smaller more humble one.

So my original post asked if you are seeing a lot of people camping out in the CG's or woods not for fun but because they have to and how many? Is it worse in the South, North, West?

I'm on a 3 month trip and the first few CG's I stopped at were full of people trying to survive. Old people, young people, kids and 2 or more families living in one small TT. So, please let me know what you are seeing and share it with us all.

We just met a couple with 2 kids that they both lost their jobs then the house. Relatives helped them out by buying them an old TT and here they are. Home schooling the kids, growing a small garden in the woods and the husband is working on rigs in the park to put food on the table and pay the rent which isn't working too well. He told me that he is a skilled electrician but the work isn't there and the last job he had he worked for a week only to be told there was no money to pay him so tough luck.

There are 4 units here in that situation but at the last 2 CG's there were a lot more. I suspect as we get out of the vacation hot spots into regular areas we will see much more of this.

I am no fan of the current President, but the current problems of financial meltdown were started way before him. The real estate fiasco really got going about 2002. Remember those ads saying everyone can be a homeowner. Well those were before Pres Obama.

I fully agree with the comments on the futility of trying to have US workers compete with people earning 10% of what they do. The best solution is to buy what our people make.

billyg, don't have 2nd thoughts about bringing this up. it's seen everywhere, is on everyone's mind. good to talk about it. except as you mentioned, for some more fortunate than others, it remains hidden. i'm not at all throwing stones at you, i wouldn't do that , but you made a point when you mentioned maybe not seeing all you might, from your personal 'island'. we all might want to look at that notion. lots going on around us, and some don't see, and some won't. maybe this is part of our problem: we live on the basis of pictures in our minds, not what's real. however, lots of folks posting here give me hope.
