Just as a follow up... I'm still using my Irish Spring bar soap but I've added a Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaning Unit. It's one of those things which mounts on the shower wall and you push a button following your shower and it sprays cleaner with a rotary spray head. I'm pretty darned impressed after a week of using it. Seems to do a great job.. even though it might be the peak of lazyness.
