Using a 4 foot LED fluorescent 110v replacement bulb on 12v or 12v-110v converter

Hi

I have a few "Toogle" brand 4 ft long LED direct wire ( no ballast) lights
which I would like to use on 12v , they are 16 watts each.

anyway can I use them on a 12v-110 converter , and how many "watt" converter do I need for a pair ?

Your message is confusing. The lights are designed to run on 120 Volts Alternating Current so you'll need an Inverter. It converts 12 volt direct current to 120 volt Alternating current. A "Converter" turns 120 volts Alternating current to 12 volts direct current.
So, if you wire up an "Inverter" to your 12 volts direct current batteries, you'll need an inverter that puts out a greater number of watts than what you're going to use. Multiply the number of LED tubes (16 watts each) by the number you're planning on using. So, if you're going to run (2) of the LED tubes than you could get by with a very inexpensive 50 watt Inverter.

sorry I got converter / inverter confused.....

Part of the reason for this is if we have another power outage here in California we can have some good lights with 12v power ,

maybe even hang them on the awning or EZ up canopy,

and I quess I could even use them in my conversion van

If all you want is to provide temporary lighting during a power outage there a a lot of lower cost options including LED stick-on lighting strips. The "tubes" you noted are a rather expensive option that only provides 2X reduction in power compared to a standard fluorescent tube.

I just happen to have a bunch of these lights already , plus I seem to break fluorescent tubes if I handle them too much.

LED...no florescent anymore. Mucho better and more robust.

LED retrofit tube are the bottom of the barrel.

I'm in the lighting business and they have been a pain for years. Quality is improving and some makes are better than others, but there is a long way to go!

You might need a sine wave inverter to run the LED tubes. Some tubes do not work well on cheap modified sine wave inverters and will actually draw more than their rated current and overheat.

You loose a lot of efficiency going from 12vDC to 120v AC then again in ballasts to fire tubes and again back to DC in Led tubes. Better to to use 12v strip LEDs if on 12v. New 48" light fixtures have LED strips in them and pretty efficaint dc converters.

I already own the 4 ft LED lights , so if they can be used that would be the best ,

Plus I have a cheap 100w , 12v to 110v inverter

90% of the cost of lighting is power. We'll maybe only 60% with LED, but back to 90 in an RV unless you are always at a KOA!
