Love CC in my 31ft gasser. It is hard for me to keep my speed at a steady rate, so set and go when appropriate is welcome.

I never use cruise control on the road except for a few seconds to adjust my position in the seat. I drove most of my life without control and it just seems more in control to not be using it.

If used properly, cruise control can actually DECREASE reaction time. How? Because, it eliminates the act of pulling your foot off of the gas pedal. Instead of lift foot/move foot/apply foot, when cruise control is engaged, there is only apply foot, a much faster operation.

In traffic, "adaptive cruise control" and "collision avoidance" can work together for a delightful experience. In my 2019 Honda Pilot, I'll set the cruise for 74 and allow the "radar" (actually a TV image) to lock onto the vehicle in front of me. The cruise control will match that guy's speed, all the way down to a full stop when needed.

Some of you may have those features in your expensive motorhomes and gigantic tow vehicles. They make driving effortless and add an extra margin of safety.

When we first got our Bay Star, I never used cruise control. But now, with quite a bit of driving experience behind me, I have started using cruise control when there isn't heavy traffic. I think you just have to use a certain amount of judgement as to when to use it. When using it, you should continue to be very alert and have your right foot in a position such that you can react quickly if you need to.

Cruise control. Cmon man!

Cruise control has been around for over 70 years. If you don’t know when you should use it, you shouldn’t be driving a vehicle possibly weighing more than 20 tons.

Those of you who think you know everything are beginning to annoy those of us who actually do.

Sometimes a short nap will do wonders.

Isn’t that what CC and lane assist are for? [emoji12]

Uh, yeah.
Here is what happens when your coach lacks those features.

I've not ever seen that clip. That is pretty good. Being the tech geek that I am, I would love to see the raw footage of the roll. If you look at it in the slide, there is a moment where its momentum changes, as if they set off an explosion to make it roll. Makes me wonder if a GMC would roll in a slide. I know my previous coach would not, but the GMC is slightly more top heavy (not that it is top heavy compared to most vehicles its size) I also wonder how they got the rear to slide. Short wheel base maybe. On my coach the front just slid. The rear stays planted.

On Edit: just looked at it again. When you see the bottom of the coach, it has extra framing welded in with a pad on it. I bet that had something to do with the launch. They also cut the exhaust after the mufflers. You can see through the windows, they had at least 3 roll bars added and the interior was gutted at that point.

cruise control

use it all the time recently and set it at 60 mph. increased my current mpg by 2 mpg from 8 to 10. typical round trip saves 5 6 gals. 60mph is a good safe speed in our class c at 65 mph vs 60 mph for 5 hr trip SAVE 25 MINUTES, not worth it plus uses more fuel. what is the rush???

I use mine all the time. For me, it takes the stress off my legs on long driving days. I’m sure I react quicker using it since my foot is so close to the brake.
