We have one heat pump and use it all the time as we full time and avoid any place that gets below 45 degrees.

jeepfreak, We try to "rarely" camp where the nighttime temp's exceed 45 degrees!

I would suggest to SpaceNorman the OP that you give your HP a try. Camping in Michigan for the last month we have used it several times. They are as noisy as the Air Conditioners so we're use to it. We use propane for cooking only and it still shows full after 6 weeks of camping.
