Different manufacturers mount them different ways. One of the most common is a small angle bracket at the bottom. Remove the screw that screws into the valance first. There should be some screws in the top that may be screwed into the cabinets above or ceiling or a bracket on the wall then lift it off. Not sure we would like curtain rods, but I did make new ones out of maple wood to replace ours because we didn't like the ugly material that covered ours.
