On tonight's news they announced that a couple from Rivière-au-Renard down on the Gaspé Peninsula had left home for a two month trip with their rig, a 2003 Ford 250 and a brand new 2006 Sandpiper (37') which was bought two weeks ago. They stopped in Sherbrooke to do some shopping and when they returned, their entire rig was gone.

Don't know these folks, but Im sure they could use a few prayers.

Jim

WOW: What a drag! And Sherbrooke is a relativelly sedate and quiet place, we do our shopping there when visiting our home park in Compton Que.

Let's hope the insurance company treats him right on his 2003 Ford. The trailer was new so it's just the aggravation of replacing it. What a bummer!

Afraid not Roadrunner, we'll be in Sherkston Shores on Lake Erie with my daughter and her family. We wait until September for our annual visit to Compton, better rates at the Golf Courses after Labour Day and all our Old Time Montreal friends seem to have more free time to visit after all the grandkids are back in school. If you are around Compton, try a stay at Camping de Compton, Aime the owner has worked hard at improving the Campgrpound since he took over four or five years ago. Cheers:

Bob

Update. They found the rig in Victoriaville, about an hour away from Sherbrooke. The Provincial Police spotted it from a helicopter.

Not only did they find the rig, they arrested a 2-year old guy.

Inside the people had over ten grand worth of personal items and a dog....he even took off with the dog!. The truck was equipped with an "anti-vol" system (Hey Bob, what is that in English?) to boot.

Really glad for this family, really glad.

The sad thing is the thief will not get a thing but his wrist slapped. He needs a year or 2 to cool at a rock pile with a pick..And I know I am harsh but that's what I would give the low life..John

I'm with you, Bushman. A couple of years at hard labor could adjust his attitude for the better.

Glad they got their unit back and hope there wasn't any damage.

Bushman, you're absolutly right, he should spend some time learning how to regret his actions.

Roadrunner, just read your signature. I served on the USS Lawrence DDG-4, same class as the Sampson.

The anti-teft system (Anti-vol) is probably what save their rig. Hopefully, it did not get trashed by teh knucklehead that decided to liberate it from its rightful owners.

Geees! Are the QPP getting as proficient as the British Bobbies?

I guess that proves the value of the anti-theft systems, rental car companies and a lot of truck lines have used them for years. Roadrunner, this is not to be confused with " anti-viol" systems!

Cheers:

Bob
