Victron BMV 712 question.....

Hey, I've got a Victron BMV 712 battery monitoring system installed on my Sprinter.

There's an inline 1Amp fuse between the battery shunt and the monitor display inside the vehicle.

I had it professionally installed and the fuse is on the cord near the AGM batteries inside the engine compartment.

My question is, do these fuses have a shorter life subjected to the high temperatures inside the engine compartment?

I replaced my fuse today and the last one was replaced by my RV shop in January....

Seems like every 6 months, this fuse has gone bad.

System installed August 2019, replaced in January 2020 and now replaced 6 months later...I see a pattern here and I'm beginning to think it's the heat???

Any ideas?

The fuse is supposed to be close to the battery. Its there to protect that wire from shorting out and burning up.

If the fuse is further away, it leaves some of the wire and your RV unprotected.

If its a glass fuse, maybe replace it with a ATC type fuse and holder.

Vibration is the fuse-killer.

Okay, I'll admit that I'm not familiar with an ATC fuse .. however, I'm finding articles on line that seems to say that fuses die faster in higher ambient temperatures....

It gets pretty hot in my engine compartment.
