The only empty containers I have seen would have caused severe abdominal distress if the stolen contents were eaten.

If I saw the empty containers, wouldn't that mean they weren't eaten? DUH!

I was at the local WM the other day and a couple (I assume mother and son) were at the deli counter. Mom's sitting in an "amigo" cart and looking pitiful. As I wait my turn the son was asking for samples of darn near everything on the deli counter. He pass the sample on to his mom. They were taking about a pound of everything they tasted. Finally they mosey on....and I get my little order of deli ham. I ran into them down another aisle and they we finishing off the goodies and left the bags on the shelf. I went back and talked with the deli counter person and he said it happens all the time!!! Unbelieveable....
Don't get me started.....I saw a guy go through 9 credit cards at Lowes the other day for a $1.58 purchase........I kid you not....sad......or maybe the custom built $49.95 birthday cake for a toddler and pay for it with food stamps......and today I saw a young teenage boy buy a case of "Rockstar Energy" drink and pay with it for food stamps. What's wrong with this picture???? Why did you get me started! rockin'

I believe everything else, but a pound? When I buy high dollar turkey at Fry's, I get a 1/4 pound and that is a week of sandwiches.
Put an actual pound in your hand, and tell me again how much was fed to Mom.
They don't give out that much for a sample.

I don't think the "taking of a pound" was the sample; although, the mother and son made it so. I think they ordered a pound to go.

I think they ordered a pound of several types, then ate them w/o paying.
In any case, still gotta be indicative of where you live. Even in the 'badder' parts of town (Chicago area) I have yet to see this. I have seen a few times where packages were opened and 'samples' taken, but bot deli items.

I hate when someone leaves refrigerated food on a shelf because they decided they don't want it. I picture a walmart employee putting it back without thinking it could have gone bad. Always see older people or mother with kids eating food and leaving the package. The food I have seen stolen/eaten the most is bananas and the loose pastries you pick and bag. With the little kids its the cookes.

Board of education applied to the seat of learning will help eliminate the children problem. Cane will help with adults.

You are right RV Wiz. I guess I wasn't clear on that...they had the "taste test" at the deli and ordered about a pound of each item sampled. Then when I saw them leave off all the packets of meat they had had some more out of the packets but hadn't finished it off. Mom in the amigo looked about to be 500 lbs. of big woman!!! rockin'
One more WM in store story. I saw a lady buying a big 40lbs. of dog food and tried to pay for it with foodstamps. The cashier said they couldn't of course, and after a bit of arguing the lady said "wait a minute"...she left and came back with a couple of 5 lbs.chubs of hamburger. She said "I bet they'll like this".....Cashier rang it up and off she went.
